2008 Thursday Night Throwdown Series

Dates: July 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st
Where: Brennan’s wave, Clark Fork river –Missoula MT.
Thursday Night Throwdowns are back for the summer of 2008! The event, was a huge success last summer and were looking to go bigger and better in ’08. We had awesome support from sponsors last year and we will need support again in order to make T.N.T. a success.
T.N.T. is a freestyle kayak event, which takes place on Brennan’s wave downtown Missoula, four Thursday nights during the month of July. The event coincides with “Dinner in the Park”, which is hosted by the Missoula Downtown Association. Carus Park in downtown Missoula is alive on Thursday nights with live music, beer and food from a variety of breweries/local eateries and now freestyle kayak mayhem. Last summer was the first annual Throwdown series to be part of Missoula’s, “Dinner in the Park”. It was awesome! Each week there are hundreds of local individuals, families and tourists who come out to eat, drink, socialize and watch the freestyle kayakers. I see people every day who tell me they can’t wait for Thursday nights this coming summer.
Thursday Night Throwdowns is a sanctioned US Freestyle Kayak Association event this season. However, the event is about the non-paddlers, as much it is the competitor. T.N.T. hosts one of the biggest crowds and best parties of any paddle event in the world. This is a great opportunity for people to see the sport of freestyle kayaking in action. This is an awesome chance to recruit new paddlers to the sport. This means big time exposer for companies.
The wave is low flow in the summer, however there is always enough water in the Clark Fork to throwdown. There are weekly individual winners and also series overall champions. Last year we gave away a Jackson Kayak of choice to the overall winner, Werner paddle to second overall, and a Level Six dry top went to third overall. Weekly prizes consisted of videos, helmets, PFD’s, t-shirts etc…
I would love to see as much support as you can give us for this event. I truly believe it is events like this that will move and grow our sport forward. Remember it is 2008 not 1988, it’s time to progress the sport!
