
What to Know Before You Go Rafting or Kayaking
What to Wear: For an exhilarating whitewater rafting experience, make sure you’re dressed appropriately:
- Opt for river sandals, river shoes, or old tennis shoes that you don’t mind getting wet (paired with a bathing suit and t-shirt).
- Avoid flip flops—they tend to disappear in the rapids!
- If you don’t have suitable footwear, don’t worry—we sell river shoes at our store.
- You won’t need extra clothing on the river; we provide sweaters and ponchos if you get chilly. Plus, there’s no changing area at the river.
What’s Included:
- Lunch and drinks are part of the package.
- Vegetarian? We’ve got you covered! Just make sure you add on a vegetarian meal.
- Suitable for ages 4 and up.
- No prior rafting experience required.
Trip Details:
- Arrive at our downtown Banner Elk store either at 11:00 am or 12:00 pm (depending on your chosen trip).
- Please avoid showing up early.
- The trip will return between 5:30 and 6:00 pm.
- Rain or shine, we’re ready to hit the rapids!
- Fun fact: The temperature where we go rafting is 10 degrees warmer than Banner Elk, and it receives only half the rainfall.
Weather Check:
- If you’re curious about the weather, check Elizabethton, TN, between 1:00 pm and 4:30 pm.
