Good To Know Before You Go: Jake’s Tips

  1. Entry level course teaching proper climbing and rappelling technique and overall respect for the mountain environment.
  1. With over 30 years of experience, the Edge of the World guides are trained in proper rock climbing and rappelling techniques.
  1. No experience necessary and Edge of the World provides the harnesses, climbing shoes, helmets, ropes, hardware and a home-cooked lunch.  
  1. Climb offers breath taking views of Grandfather Mountain and the Wilson Creek Wilderness Area.
  1. You don’t need a lot of arm strength to climb.  It’s mostly technique and you use your legs and feet more than your arms.
  1. A great way to overcome your fear of heights.  Since you are focusing on where to put your feet and hands, you don’t think about what’s below you.
  1. We use a redundant system which means that we use two anchors and you will be belayed (secured) from the top and bottom by Edge of the World guides.
